The mark
One pixel leaves the box
A 3 by 3 block of squares on a 24 unit grid. The top right square steps one cell out on the diagonal and carries Signal. The block is the industrial data set; the pixel is the question nobody asked yet.

Every layout is paper, stone, line, slate, ash and ink, with Signal at most once. Categories are told apart by tone, never by hue.

Pixel system
Eight values, one 4 by 4 grid
A value glyph is a set of filled cells on the 4 by 4 grid plus exactly one Signal cell. A new glyph is allowed only if it can be written as a list of coordinates.

A trail of records that leads back to its source.

Usage
Rules that keep it consistent
Keep the clear space
One grid cell on every side of the mark, a quarter of its height. Nothing enters it, including the wordmark.
Never alter the mark
Not rounded, rotated, outlined or shadowed, not redrawn with circles, and never shown with a second Signal.
One Signal per layout
The escaped pixel, the pixel in a field, a cursor, the step a diagram is about, or Sudo’s eyes. Pick one.
Wordmark is lowercase
The logotype is "curiosity" in Schibsted Grotesk Semibold, with pixel i dots. In prose the company is Curiosity.
