Infrastructure / Forward Deployed
DevOps Architect
The role
Curiosity Studio connects data from different company systems into one searchable graph, with search and AI on top. It helps teams build applications and tools around their own data.
Our customers are large industrial companies with complex IT environments, strict security requirements and real operational constraints. We work directly with their teams to deploy Curiosity and build solutions that fit their needs.
We’re looking for an engineer who is comfortable working across infrastructure, software and customer projects. You’ll design and deploy the infrastructure that runs production AI applications on Curiosity, make sure it performs reliably, and work alongside our forward deployed engineers to build solutions on top of it.
Some days you’ll be configuring cloud infrastructure, troubleshooting a networking issue or investigating a production incident. Other days you’ll be working with a customer’s engineers, integrating a data source, writing code or helping deliver a new application.
You’ll own projects from the initial technical discussions through deployment and handover, working closely with both the customer and our engineering team.
This is a hands on, customer facing role based in Toulouse. You’ll work on site with customers, in French and English. It suits engineers who enjoy solving practical problems, taking ownership and seeing their work used in production.
What you’ll do
- Design and deploy infrastructure: Set up and configure the environments Curiosity runs in: compute, networking, storage, access controls and the services around them. That can be AWS, Google Cloud or a customer’s own data center.
- Own production operations: Monitor systems, investigate incidents, manage upgrades and security patches, and make sure backups and recovery procedures work.
- Plan for performance and scale: Size infrastructure, identify bottlenecks and improve the reliability and performance of resource intensive AI workloads.
- Work with customer IT teams: Understand their architecture, security requirements and constraints, and turn them into a deployment that works in practice.
- Build on Curiosity Studio: Work with our forward deployed engineers to integrate data sources, develop connectors, build APIs and contribute to applications and AI workflows that run in production.
- Get hands on with data and code: Investigate data issues, write scripts and services, debug application behavior and help resolve problems across the stack.
- Lead technical delivery: Help scope projects, plan implementation, communicate progress and take solutions from initial discussions to production.
- Make deployments repeatable: Automate infrastructure and operational tasks, document decisions and write runbooks that make systems easier to maintain.
- Improve the product: Feed customer requirements and lessons from deployments back into Curiosity’s own code and engineering practices.
What we’re looking for
- Hands on experience operating production systems, on a major cloud provider or on premises.
- Strong knowledge of cloud compute and networking, including VPCs, subnets, routing, firewalls and security groups, IAM and private connectivity.
- Experience troubleshooting production issues and understanding performance, availability and resource constraints.
- Experience with Linux, Docker, monitoring and infrastructure automation. Terraform or similar tools are a plus.
- A solid software engineering foundation: you can write, test, debug and maintain code, not just configure infrastructure.
- Familiarity with APIs, databases and data integration. C# experience is a plus, but strong development experience in another language is also valuable.
- An understanding of stateful applications, capacity planning, backups and disaster recovery.
- Experience working directly with customers, users or other technical teams to turn requirements into working solutions.
- The ability to explain technical decisions clearly, manage expectations and take ownership of delivery.
- Fluent French and English, both written and spoken.
You don’t need to be an expert in every part of the stack. We’re looking for a strong engineer who can work across disciplines, learn quickly and take responsibility for getting things working in real customer environments.
Experience with Curiosity Studio or graph databases is not required. We’ll teach you the product.
What you’ll get
- A full time permanent contract (CDI).
- The opportunity to run production AI systems for large industrial and regulated customers.
- A varied role spanning cloud and on premises infrastructure, software engineering, architecture and customer delivery.
- Direct collaboration with the engineers building Curiosity.
- Ownership of projects from initial design through deployment and production handover.
- The opportunity to solve challenging infrastructure and data problems rather than work on isolated tickets.
- Paid leave and health insurance (mutuelle).
- Support with your visa application in France.
How we hire
- Get to know. A 30 minute call to get to know each other.
- Technical interview. A conversation about how you build and run software.
- Final interview. With the founders.
About Curiosity
Curiosity is a bootstrapped, engineering-led software company based in Munich. We build Curiosity Studio, a platform that connects information from different company systems into a unified graph, preserves existing permissions and enables search, applications, dashboards and AI agents.
Our customers include large industrial and regulated companies, among them Airbus. We work in environments where security, performance and reliability matter, and where solutions must fit into existing IT systems.
We’re building a team in Toulouse to work directly with our customers, deploy Curiosity in their environments and build solutions that solve real operational problems.
